Enjoying what the UK has to offer with all of the family!

The rise of the ‘staycation’ during and since the Covid-19 pandemic has been a great boost to UK tourism and has encouraged holidaymakers to explore the beautiful sights of the UK rather than travelling abroad. Around half of holidaymakers are looking to stick to the UK this summer, citing comfort, ease, and less stress as reasons for avoiding the airports in 2022.

An added bonus of choosing a staycation as a dog owner, is the option to bring your pup along and avoid hefty kennel and dog sitting fees. Whilst international travel with pets is a possibility thanks to pet passports, long journeys (especially involving air travel) can be costly and hugely stressful for everyone involved, and there are various inoculations and restrictions to adhere to in order to pass border controls.

Fortunately, UK dog-friendly holidays are widely available, giving you and all members of the family (two- and four-legged) the choice of exploring the natural beauty of the New Forest, the beachy vibes or Cornwall, the magic of the Scottish Highlands, and everything in between.

How do I feed my dog raw food on holiday?

Worrying about diets is the last thing you want to be doing on holiday – and that goes for everyone! Raw food feeders may be concerned about the logistics involved in keeping pets on their raw diets when away from home. We have put together some tips but remember – you’re on holiday and the absolute priority is enjoying your break.

Holidaying can be hard with a raw fed dog especially if you don't have any stockists close by to your staycation destination, thats why we've put together a Staycation bundle.

Our staycation bundle

  • - Featuring in our staycation bundle we have the barf complete and our vegetable mix, these can both be added to any raw meat to create a nutritionally complete meal for your pup without the need of a fridge or a freezer, which can be easier to get a hold of while you're holidaying!

  • Other holiday essentials
  • A cool box with ice blocks is a handy way to keep the week’s raw meals frozen for the journey.
  • Do your research – find local Nutriment stockists of your pup’s favourite raw meals. Plan to visit stockists en route or find one nearest to your holiday accommodation.
  • Check the accommodation’s fridge / freezer facilities to determine what you’re going to be able to store.
  • Plan a mid-holiday delivery! Nutriment delivers nationwide, so you can order a small batch for delivery direct to your staycation home.
  • Do your best – but remember you’re on holiday. If travelling with your dog’s food is not a possibility, or there are no stockists within easy reach, just try and stick to general BARF guidelines by feeding appropriate raw meats and fruits / veggies until your normal Nutriment diet can resume.

If you do have to leave your pet with a professional carer or family member, be sure to discuss raw feeding options and how best your dog can stick to their diet. And don’t be afraid to request that no processed or human treats are given to your pet!
